MIRGA GRAŽINYTĖ-TYLA
Weinberg: Symphonies NOS. 2 & 21Der OPUS KLASSIK ist der neue Preis für klassische Musik in Deutschland. Die Förderung der klassischen Musik und insbesondere die Auszeichnung ihrer Künstler ist das Ziel des Vereins zur Förderung der Klassischen Musik e. V., dem Ausrichter des wichtigsten deutschen Klassikpreises. Eine Fachjury, zusammengesetzt aus Vertretern der Musik- und Medien-Branche, zeichnet 47 Preisträger in 25 Kategorien aus. Der Nominierungszeitraum für den OPUS KLASSIK 2020 ist (seit dem 21. April 2020) abgeschlossen. Die Preisträger 2020 werden von der neunköpfigen Jury ausgewählt und im Herbst 2020 bekannt gegeben. Verliehen wird der OPUS KLASSIK 2020 dann am 18. Oktober 2020 im Konzerthaus Berlin.

A rite of spring as a great orchestra launches its centenary year in epic style
I think I'm right in saying that to date Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla has conducted three Mahler symphonies with the CBSO. Earlier in her tenure as Osborn Music Director she led performances of the First and Fourth symphonies. I missed those concerts but I was impressed with her handling of the 'Resurrection' Symphony in June last year (review). The Second Symphony is a major test of any conductor but the Eighth, with its vast forces and even more unconventional design, presents even greater challenges.—John Quinn, SeenandHeard-international.com
